About the Hospital

Visit Sparrow Ionia’s gift shop for items ranging from candy, cards and stuffed animals to holiday décor, books, unique jewelry and other decorative items and gifts. The Cart N’ Lobby Shop is run by the Sparrow Ionia Hospital Advocates and is currently open five days a week from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Patients who stay in the hospital overnight are cared for in large, private patient rooms with plenty of space and sleeper couches to accommodate family members. All rooms have telephones and TV’s available for your convenience and comfort.

The natural garden located outside the dining area on the first floor, was built with the support of the Rotary Club of Ionia, and is meant to be a place of respite for patients, family members and caregivers. Inside the Garden is a walkway of engraved bricks in memory or honor of caregivers and community members.

Thanks to the generosity of the Sparrow Ionia Healthcare Advocates we have a beautiful chapel for those who would like a quieter, more private place to meditate. The Chapel is located on the second floor, next to the Surgical Waiting area. Sparrow Ionia Hospital welcomes volunteer chaplains that can assist our patients and their family members who may need spiritual guidance on their journey.

Available through Patient Access, we offer free interpreter services to ensure patients can receive medical information in their own language

Through our partnership with the best cardiology specialists in Lansing, advancement in echocardiography, stress testing, and vascular imaging are conveniently provided at Sparrow Ionia Hospital. Cardiology services and coverage are available five days a week.

We are a full-service emergency department, open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year with all Emergency Medicine trained and board-certified physicians treating serious injuries. Specially trained caregivers are available to provide high-quality care when you need it the most.

At Sparrow Ionia Hospital, we use the latest in state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging technology to give your doctor detailed images of any body part in a matter of seconds. Our highly trained caregivers will make sure that your experience is centered around you.

At our Cancer Center we offer oncology diagnostics, chemotherapy, hematology, drug therapies and more for our patients. Providing clinical care services in Ionia is Sparrow Cancer Center physician, Muhammad Hamdan, M.D., board-certified in Oncology/Hematology and Internal Medicine.

Located on the second floor, the unit provides inpatient services for all conditions in 22 private rooms with all the amenities of home. Staffed by specially-trained registered nurses and certified nurses' assistants, the medical/surgical care team makes sure patients receive the hospital services they need including physician and nursing care, physical therapy, dietary services, respiratory therapy and pharmacy services.

The Sparrow Ionia is a full-service laboratory. It is integrated with Sparrow Laboratories to provide expanded testing and consultative services. Laboratory services are provided 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The four Sparrow-owned primary care practices in Ionia, Muir, Portland and Saranac have been designated as a Patient-Centered Medical Home practice by Blue Cross® Blue Shield® of Michigan for the 2019 program year. PCMH designated practices have strong performance on quality, use and efficiency measures, and the physicians are recognized for using a team approach focusing on prevention and the partnership between a patient and their doctor. Our team is comprised of licensed and certified health care professionals trained in the areas of physical therapy, athletic training, and exercise science. Our therapists also provide in-patient therapy while patients are in the hospital and work closely with our physicians to offer coordinated care that fully addresses every patient’s needs.

If you have trouble breathing because of asthma, emphysema, COPD, lung disease or seasonal respiratory infections, our expert team is here to help you breathe better. Sparrow Ionia Hospital respiratory therapists are specially trained to care for a variety of lung and respiratory conditions. We work in the hospital to assist patients whose condition needs immediate attention. Our goal is to find the treatment that works best for you.
